Marc Tarpenning is an American engineer and technology entrepreneur best known as a co-founder of Tesla Motors (now Tesla, Inc.). He served as Tesla's Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Electrical Engineering from 2003 to 2008, helping oversee development of the original Tesla Roadster. Prior to Tesla, Tarpenning co-founded NuvoMedia in 1997, where he helped create the Rocket eBook before selling the venture to Gemstar-TV Guide International in 2000 for $187 million. He currently serves as a Venture Partner at early-stage venture capital firm Spero Ventures.
